Richard Watts-Joyce CTA, ATT
Richard is a co-founder and partner of the UK office of Global Tax Network, where he assists high net worth individuals, non domiciles and professional sportspersons with international tax planning and compliance. In addition to advising private clients, Richard also assists companies with tax policy development and planning for international assignment programs.
Richard has over 20 years of experience in international tax consulting, having previously worked within the London offices of KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers specializing in international executive tax planning and compliance for multinational companies. He then spent a number of years at Watson Wyatt Partners, assisting clients with international executive compensation structures and incentive schemes for board level directors, before establishing Global Tax Network Ltd in 2001.
Richard has a BSc Honours Degree from the London School of Economics and qualified as a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians in 1995 and the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1999. He is also a member of the European Register of Tax Advisers for the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE), the International Tax Planning Association (ITPA) and was selected by Global Law Experts (GLE) as their exclusive adviser for Expatriate Tax in the UK. Richard is a regular speaker at relocation events and training conferences and is Regional Managing Director for GTN, with management responsibilities across Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Wayne Bewick, Bcomm, CA, CFP, CPA (IL) (Trowbridge)
Wayne is a Canadian Chartered Accountant, Certified Financial Planner and a US Certified Public Accountant, specializing in expatriate and international taxation.
Before joining GTN, Wayne spent numerous years at Deloitte specializing in expatriate and international tax services. He has completed levels I and II of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In depth Taxation Program, is a current member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, and the Financial Planners Standards Council. Wayne is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois. Wayne graduated with a Bachelor's of Commerce from Concordia University in Montreal and is fluent in French.
Wayne divides his time between London and Toronto and is a Partner of Trowbridge Professional Corporation, the GTN member firm in Canada.
Dawn Taylor EA
Dawn is head of the US Private Client tax services team based in the Guildford office with over 25 years of dual handling experience in the personal tax field.
Historically, Dawn has assisted companies within the international assignments market and maintained compliance for expatriate assignment populations. More recently, Dawn has assisted individual high net worth and private client portfolios and UK/US law firms. These areas of taxation naturally intersect with knowledge in HR policies, tax equalisation, assignment planning, social security and payroll compliance.
Extended US filing obligations through the introduction of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act ( FATCA ) has increased US personal and annual filing considerations especially around the reporting in respect of foreign financial assets. The focus on US compliance extends to assisting clients who need to catch up with their US tax reporting obligations through the IRS Streamlined or Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP). This in turn can create opportunities for planning including considerations for US expatriation. Dawn has helped many clients bring their US tax matters up to date and has significant experience in this area.
Dawn is a US Enrolled Agent. Prior to joining Global Tax Network, Dawn worked for Barclays, KPMG, PWC and more recently Frank Hirth.
Rhian is Director of Business Operations and Finance. Rhian graduated from the London School of Economics and subsequently built a successful career in Public Relations, spending several years with Standard Life before co founding the UK office of Global Tax Network. In addition to managing the financial, legal and HR issues for the UK offices, Rhian has a significant role in the marketing and development of the EMEA region and network firm membership issues.
Nigel is a Senior Tax Manager in our London office. Nigel has over 20 years of experience specialising in the expatriate tax arena and has assisted a number of FTSE 100 Companies, along with major European, Asia Pacific and US Investment Banking clients dealing with their expanding international assignee populations relocating to all parts of the globe. He has provided detailed advice to various companies Human Resource and Financial departments on all aspects of the issues they face on the transfer of their international workforce, such as advice on tax equalisation policies and their implementation, social security agreements, income tax treaty considerations and Company share plans. Prior to joining GTN UK, Nigel worked for E&Y, Deloitte and PwC in London.
Joanne Kerr CTA
Joanne is a Senior Tax Manager in our Guildford office, working on personal, social and expatriate taxes, for a wide range of clients. She has spent the last ten years working in expatriate tax dealing with a wide range of issues from personal taxes, small businesses and multinational corporations. Joanne is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians and Chartered Institute of Taxation, and previously worked for Ernst & Young in London before joining GTN in 2007. Joanne has a multi skilled background having a broad management experience and an accredited legal base and is an examinations marker for the Chartered Institute of Taxation and Association of Taxation Technicians.
Carl is a Senior Tax Manager in our London office with over 20 years of UK tax experience, specialising in the Expatriate Tax sector. He has advised globally mobile clients on all areas of expatriate tax issues including planning, compliance and consultancy, social security and tax treaties. Carl's experience was built at KPMG and Ernst & Young, working with High Net Worth Individuals and Companies with large expatriate populations. He was also a member of the Ernst & Young High Net Worth Individuals team. During his time at KPMG, Carl was responsible for two of the largest Global Expat Programmes and his time on secondment to Philadelphia with Ernst & Young gave him a deeper insight into the concerns facing North American assignees. Carl has presented on expatriate issues on a number of occasions with two of the most recent being to the Canadian and Brazilian Chambers of Commerce.
Louise is a Tax Manager in our Guildford office, providing support to international assignees and their employers with tax return compliance and the administration of shadow payroll, modified PAYE and NIC arrangements. Louise has gained over 10 years of experience since joining GTN in 2002.
Jim is an Assistant Manager in our Guildford office, where he assists clients with tax planning and compliance in respect of international assignments and the administration of modified payroll, short term business visitor arrangements and P11D and PSA reporting for employers. After graduating from University with an economics-based degree, Jim spent the first six and a half years working as a Firefighter for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, before commencing his career in expatriate tax with PwC in 2011. Following three years at PwC, Jim moved to EY where he worked in global mobility tax services for a further two years. In 2016, Jim moved to Global Tax Network to further his experience in UK tax compliance and build on experience gained in tax advisory projects.
Steve McIntosh (Trowbridge)
Steve a US Tax Manager at Trowbridge Professional Corporation (the GTN member firm in Canada) and is currently on assignment to the London office. Prior to moving to the UK, Steve spent several years working in the Toronto assisting U.S. expatriates with tax compliance and planning matters.
Ian Wilson (Consultant)
Ian started his own social security consultancy in 2005 after spending eight years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he built and led a network of social security specialists in over 40 countries throughout the world. Prior to this, he spent a number of years at the Department of Social Security. Ian teaches on training courses several times per year for European Employment Service staff and runs a regular social security workshop at Farnham Castle, one of the UK's principal centres for International Human Resources training. Ian has written many articles on international social security and is regarded as one of the foremost authorities in his field.
